At present, the following research projects are available in my group:

  • Master Thesis: Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging Microscopy in the Frequency Domain

The lifetime of excited singlet states can either be measured with short laser pulses by monitoring the fluorescence decay as a function of time (in the time domain) or with a cw laser modulated in the radio frequency regime (in the frequency domain). In the latter case, the modulation amplitude and phase shift of the fluorescence signal with respect to the excitation laser are recorded and yield the lifetime. In the framework of the thesis, an existing apparatus is to be improved and used for spatially resolved measurements of fluorescence lifetimes (fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy; FLIM).

Interested students are asked to contact Lothar Kador.
